The first type of website is called a branding website.  The sole purpose of this website is to allow your visitors to gain information about you as an internet marketer.  In essence, you are trying to brand yourself with the visitors to the site, which is why it is called a branding site.  With this site you might tell a little about your history, what work you have done and why you are an expert in the niche you are marketing to.

The branding site is used to enhance your name so that the visitor will remember your name whenever your niche is  mentioned. Your branding site should enhance your standing as an authority in your field.

The second type of website is a squeeze page.  This is a very short web page whose sole purpose is to convince your visitor to provide you with their name and email address. This is the type of site you use to build your list.  Generally you trade something of value in order to get the email information you want.  You may offer access to a free report or access to a website.  You do not try and sell anything on this page.  You only want to get information to build your email or subscriber list.

The third and most common website is the sales site.  The sole purpose of this site is to, obviously, sell something.  This is the sales page. This is where you publish your sales letter and provide your visitor with the opportunity to purchase your product.  This is the page that is your direct money maker.  At some point all the other types of pages lead to this one.  You only make money when something is sold. 

The sales website usually consists of several pages.  Your sales page, a purchase page, a thank you page and a download page.  You might also have several sales pages as upsells or one time offers as part of your sales cycle.

The fourth site that has become very popular in internet marketing is the blog site.  Blogs have a number of uses in internet marketing.  Blogs are used to supplement newsletters.  Sometimes blogs are the newsletters.  Blogs can also be used to post articles and write reviews. 

Blogs can help monetize your online efforts by directing traffic back to your main sales page.  Blogs can also be used in conjunction with reviews you write, to enhance sales of affiliate products.  Blogs can also serve to improve your rank in the search engines by creating many links pointing back to your sites through blog directories and RSS feeds.

These four types of websites work together, each one playing a part in your overall online marketing scheme.  The best online marketers have as many things going for them as possible.  Having the four types of internet marketing business web sites working for them is one of their keys to success.
