eBay Digital Media Products: Can You Smell The B.S?
by rayjohnson | May 4, 2008 | under Digital Media Information Products, Internet Marketing |
You know something? I’m pretty tired of it. Tired of the B.S. floating about with the whole eBay DD ban thingy… I have been giving out information to my mentoring students WAAAAY before the so-called guru’s…

Heck, I have even been blatantly LIED TO by some of them…
So this post is a rant (something I DON’T do often) -
YOUR loyalty is key to my existence, so I’m gonna spill the beans…
Here is the scoop with the new eBay Digital Download ban in as simple form as I can make it for you, this is what you need to do, WITHOUT paying a fortune for the same information that has been sugar-coated elsewhere:
You have 2 choices - sell as Classified (VERY good for listbuilding) or sell as Physical Digital Media Products, for a high ticket entry into your sales funnel.
I have done THE FIRST eBay APPROVED Classified Ads eBook if you haven’t bought it - you must be mad. GET IT HERE.
But this post ISN’T about Classifieds… Here is the NO-COST solution to Digital Media Products. Listen, and listen good - this advice will save you a fortune.
1. Sell all of your eBook AS normal (before the ban) at the lowest price possible that you can to cover eBay fees and costs for the stock required to CREATE your digital media. This ensures that you get good detailed seller ratings, giving you an overall good impression - meaning repeat sales.
2. Price your items as low as possible so that they show up highest in the “lowest price first” search, meaning more chance of a clickthrough to your listing and more chance of a sale.
3. Create a CD/DVD disk including a autorun menu, and include your download page items on your CD/DVD menu page - just like you did, or should have done - with the old download page. Make sure at least one of the menu on the autorun menu (the page your customer is greeted with when then place the disc in their computer try) contains an optin-form. Get the customer on a list - either a buyer of digital media list, or a current list you have running.
4. Include resell rights on ALL your low priced eBooks, and include the template for the CD/DVD cover PLUS instructions and a download link to the software you use to BURN your disks. Preferably a video would help here. Generally make it as easy as possible for your buyer to resell - GUESS WHAT! Just like before the ban!
5. Include a handwritten note on the reverse of your padded envelope AND THEN on the FIRST sentence of your CD autorun menu page, include a personalisation message - this makes the customer believe you have PERSONALLY taken the time to sign the envelope for them, thus INCREASING the rapport between buyer and seller. This makes it EVEN EASIER for you to gain optins and upsells later on. Relationship is KEY over ANY sale.
6. Include a leaflet inside the package containing your digital media. On the leaflet request the buyers physical ADDRESS of where they live in exchange for a discount on an affiliate program (as a rebate) or a FREE period one of your OWN products.
7. Include bonus offers related to the initial purchase to incentivise your buyer to click thru and purchase. Use ImgAds to find related ClickBank products to make targeted upsells.
There are at LEAST 30 MORE points I could make, PLUS a LOT of insider marketing tactics I could reveal, but I have a little something up my sleeve - coming soon that covers a whole load more than the basics, so keep ‘em peeled…
I have just 4 mentoring places available to include the digital media eBay policy changes - so if you want to learn more, join the re-launch list HERE or simply take a look at my mentoring programme video below:
The bottom line is, don’t get suckered for cash by the guru’s!
Until next time, take care - thanks for reading and I would appreciate your comments…
