by rayjohnson | April 10, 2008 | under Internet Marketing |
Another quick post tonight to let you all know that eBay are holding a workshop tomorrow at 2.00-3.00PM PST - on Friday 11th April 2008, regarding the new digital download “ban”/policy changes on eBay.
A few of the things you’ll learn:
- Exploring and highlighting the policy details
- Taking full advantage of the Classified Ad format
- Utilizing effective marketing and promotion of your content items
- Offering content on physical media to boost sales
- How to make sure your all you digital content listings are in full compliance with eBay policy
This is going to really help you “get over” the recent policy changes, and move forward with the new way to sell information on eBay.
For all the information simply visit the eBay forums
See you in the workshop tomorrow, and soon after I will be holding a conference call and a questions and answers session to address any more of your concerns. You’ll be notified in due course if you are a subscriber to any of my email lists.
If you are not currently a subscriber - join FREE now above.
As always, your comments are welcomed and appreciated.

Thanks for the advice - this is just what digital item sellers needed, thanks for being the first to let us know Ray
No problem Kyle
Thanks for the comments.
I agree totally with what you say - eBay did spring this change on all of us without much notice so in that respect it is good that they are helping out a little.
I luckily have already started my new physical product range, but I think it’s important that you got to know about this eBay workshop.
Im just the middleman on this one - glad I could help!
Hi Ray, Just read your latest email, and thought you might like to know there is someone who found a way around the ban, he still selling ebooks, but sends them attached to email as pdf file, using Paypal for payment & presumably the source of gaining the email addresses.
Regards Graham
Hi Graham
Thanks for adding yout comments.
Although I can see the short term picture as to why this person is continuing to sell eBooks via PDF email attachment, I would NOT do it for these reasons:
1. Unprofessionalism
2. More difficult to make the upsell
3. We do not know if eBay allow this for sure
4. Going back to the stoneage
I say going back to the stoneage because this is how ebooks used to be delivered back in the day - some may say that this is the same for physical products… and it IS to a degree.
The MAJOR difference is you will ALWAYS be able to charge up to 10 times MORE for a physical product than an eBook attached to an email, plus the backend upsell opportunity is simpler and more likely to convert.
I hope this helps
