What Kinds of Products Should You Sell on eBay?

EBay is the largest market place in the world. Millions of buyers purchase items through EBay every month. You can find almost anything in the world there. Even if you are trying to buy the most obscure unusual item, chances are there is a seller on EBay auctioning it. But what product should you sell on EBay?
If you are selling products that are merely items from around your house that you want to get rid of, and want to turn them into cash, then you can sell anything. On the other hand, if you plan to make a regular income selling products on EBay then there are some general attributes your product needs to have in order to be successful.
The very first rule of thumb to remember is, you make your profit when you buy an item, not when you sell it. Chances are, any item you sell has already been sold on EBay. That being the case, you can look at past sales for the item and come up with a pretty good idea of how much it will sell for.
Since you know what it will sell for, you will have a general idea of how much profit your item will make if you know what you can buy it for. If you know your item will sell for $10 and you buy it for $5 you know you will make $5. If you can buy it for $4 then you will make $6. So you see the price you buy it at will determine the general profit you will make.
Therefore the first consideration for a product is, can you buy it low enough to make a reasonable profit when you sell it. The second consideration for deciding on a product is, do you have a reasonable supply available. You want to be able to maximize your time and effort. If you have a reasonable supply, say 100 of the product, then you only need to have one set of pictures and only need to build one ad for the product. You can then run the same ad with the same pictures 100 times.
If you have only 1 of an item, you will need to put in the same work taking pictures of the item and writing the ad. Since you only had one, you will need to sell another product to generate another sale. That means another set of pictures and another ad. It is much simpler and cost effective to create an ad once and use it 100 times then it is to have to create an ad every time you list an item.
There are many products that meet those two criteria. Depending on what sources you can find, price and supply will determine whether you can be successful. One type product that I alway recommend, that fits the criteria perfectly are PDF eBooks.
PDF EBooks fit criteria one, low cost. There are many eBooks you can get for no or little cost. EBooks fit the second criteria also, because eBooks allow you to have an inexhaustible supply. You can write one ad and use it over and over again.
Any product you choose must be available to you at a price that will allow you to make a profit. The product you choose should have an adequate supply allowing you to use your ad many times over. Based on these attributes, PDF eBooks can be the perfect product.
