Well it’s 12.28AM when I write this post, on a Monday night, and after a good day off (because my car is in for repair), watching Football (Soccer), fun with family and a few friends I NEEDED to write this post to you.

I felt a sudden urge to tell you the truth about internet marketing (because it is getting harder by the day).

I see so many new clients, and and newbies alike – coming into the game and leaving pennyless, disheartned or both – and it’s about time someone said something.

You ever heard the saying “There’s more than one way to skin a cat”?

Well the same applies to internet marketing. There’s more than one way to make money online.

In fact MANY ways… but since I’m in a REAL sharing mood – I’m gonna tell you the 3 MAIN ways to make money online.

2 of the ways I ACTUALLY use in our business to do just that.

So – the 3 main ways then:

1: Make Multiple Sites – Build Multiple Income Streams & Lists (The long haul, but a safe bet)

Yep, this is one of the methods we use in the business to make money online, through product creation, launches and post launch momentum. This method is the safest and builds the strongest foundations for anyone starting a business, and seperates the wheat from the chaff, as you HAVE to have all the qualities to KEEP grinding out product after product to build and grow and make more cash over TIME. This is why we have over 20 sites in the make money niche alone, all with products for sale at any given time. Each product making small daily income and building the list we hold.

2. Passive Income

A BIG favourite of mine. We use and have used passive income in various niches for a long time now. Passive means on autopilot (or as near autopilot as possible) and is the whole IM dream (as far as newbies are concerned). When you get it RIGHT the rewards are sweet. Imagine receiving checks in the mail for doing NOTHING. ZILCH. Well that’s the same as passive income. Work once. Get paid forever. Only problem is it can be hit and miss and until you strike a golden niche, or market – you’re dead in the water. How you think we KEEP seeing these total unknowners, or sudden massive rises to fame of so many marketers out there? Well let me tell you, it is NOT through skill, any kind of advantage or something they have over you. It is simply NETWORKING. If you like the idea of socialising with other marketers (for let’s face it – a reason then networking is for you. If you like flying/travelling all over the world to socialise (EG: hang out in bars or seminars) then networking is for you. On the otherhand – if you wanna make your OWN true success, it turns some people off. (The same people I might add, who get EXCITED by these overnight celbrities LOL – weird huh?) I only recently went to my first “networking” gig when I met Adeel, and I am glad I went – but it is NOT the be all and end all of success online! It just helps you get there quicker IF you know the right people or if you have a big bar tab

So thre we have it. The 3 ways to really ‘make it online’.

I feel better for giving you the information above, but now it is up to YOU to go implement one of, or all of the above in your business in order to succeed.

But hold up…. there is actually a 4TH WAY to succeed online FAST…

The clue above isn’t 100% clear, and I’m looking for savvy marketers (you?) to tell me the answer.

Ray here with a quick, gruesome but important post AND an apology.

(I know it’s weird but stay with me!)

For the past few months I have felt REALLY under the weather, still do – I’ve had no sleep, (or very little) and excruitating pains for the majority of days hence me not ENTIRELY giving you the good meaty content you deserve as my subscriber….

No this wasn’t me suffering from “lazy-itis” but it has been due to me having Kidney Stones – 3 of the little blighters!

I have had 3 visits to hospital with blues and two’s and enough morpheine to keep a junkie (for a better word) very very happy!

I just wanted to inform you that a) I have now been to a consultant and had scans… I even took you a piccy for you on my iPhone…

b) fortunately I have passed 2 stones (they were very small) – and c) one stone still remains and I’ll be needing surgery to get it out…

And here it is… Introducing my Kidney Stone

The two LARGE masses of white are my hip bones by the way – the Kidney Stone is the smaller whiter thing… and it is 8mm in width and lodged 1 inch from my bladder… (nice)

So know you have seen the little fella for yourself -  I just wanted to let you know, my ill health of late has delayed me delivering this REAL GOOD STUFF to you that I usually deliver, and after all as my subscriber you DESERVE only the best information for FREE right from the horses mouth…

I will be resuming normal service after my surgery around the 15th of October, and the blog will be better and more revealing than ever!

The main good points I can share with you today, or if there’s any tips or lessons I can teach you from my current situation, they are these:

1. We never know what the future will bring, so don’t dwell on starting out in your online business – even if you don’t have the foggiest idea what you are doing you can always educate yourself and ask others. (As John Thornhill always tells me “Google is your friend”).

2. Get your business rolling, even if that means simply buying a YOUR NAME.com domain name and ordering Aweber – you have done something productive that will move you forward – no matter how small…

3. Keep on keeping on. Keep moving forward, even throughout the worst of circumstances. I actually launched AdswapMasterclass.com and I couldn’t even sit at my PC because of the pain! but I knew I had to keep momentum going at all costs. The site went on to gross $11k in TOTAL sales and 5500 subscribers in just 7 days. Not bad hey?

4. It takes a special kind of person mentally to do I.M. for a living – just like any net or entrepreneur, you need drive, guts, determination and like me balls of steel!

I hope you understand and can appreciate my recent health problems – I’ll be back giving you the creme de la creme of internet marketing tips real soon, and if you can’t wait – simply feel free to browse some of the recents posts here, there more than enough good stuff to inspire you!

Something completely different today because Ray was unfortunately rushed to hospital yesterday morning and is now laid up in bed for a couple of weeks suffering from extremely painful kidney stones - and is struggling to even think about turning on his computer, never mind writing a blog post!

So, rather than you missing out on his usual content crammed full of tips, he’s asked me to temporarily fill in for him… which just goes to show I guess that Ray doesn’t hide away like other marketers and REALLY want’s his followers and clients etc to interact with him. Totally refreshing in in my opinion and what has seperated Ray from the other marketers out there.

So who am I (the mystery man) and how dare I think I can fill Ray’s shoes?

Well, I’ve certainly no intention of even attempting to match Ray’s unique writing style but I do hope I can pass on some information that will be of benefit to you.

My name is Robert Black; I’ve been a student of Ray’s mentoring program for just over 12 months.

Although I’m fairly new to marketing on the internet I ran my own successful offline sales and marketing business for nearly 25 years. Whilst the operational methods may differ, the rules for running a thriving business are pretty much the same – on or off the internet.

You haven’t come here to read my life story, nor to read a sales pitch for Ray’s mentoring program so I’m not going to give you that. But just to give a very brief background I will tell you that I set up a brand new eBay shop selling digital media products shortly after eBay banned digital downloads. In less than 3 months I was the biggest seller in that category on eBay UK…

..and that would NOT have happened without Ray’s help.

There are 2 things I want to share with you today

1. Never worry about the competition

2. Everyone has knowledge that someone else will pay for

Competition – NEVER EVER worry about them! Seriously! That’s a lesson I learned many years ago. Focus on what YOU have to offer that’s different to what others are selling. You will ALWAYS find a different sales angle; the market for information products is absolutely huge.

Of course that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t do some basic research first. There’s probably not much point in selling your own branded version of Microsoft Office or setting up your own online travel agency – not unless you have a lot of experience in those markets and even then….

In my opinion there has never been a time to worry less about the competition. We are living in a time where bad service is the norm, not just from larger companies but also individual businesses. If you don’t believe me just have a look at the majority of listings on eBay. Badly written in barely legible English, or even worse, written in the dreaded “Txtspeak”. Comic fonts, bright colours, text centrally aligned and out of focus pictures.

Don’t think that’s just confined to eBay. These are a lot of your competitors! All you need to do is be just a little bit better than that, give your customers slightly better service, reply to their emails, thank them for their business and you are onto a winner.

So please don’t worry about your competitors, most of them haven’t got a clue what they are doing – and they are still making money!

My second point is that everyone, including YOU, has information or knowledge in their heads that someone else will pay for. I promise you that you are, or can market yourself as, an expert on something. It may be a hobby, it may be through your J-O-B, it may be something you learned when you were still a child, it may be a particular negative experience you have overcome.

Every internet “guru” tells us to create our own product. Everyone has some piece of specific knowledge that they can sell to others. Sure, you may not be able to write your own eBook about it because you don’t see yourself as a writer but…..you can outsource that to a writer for less than $200.

I tried many different things online from blogging to affiliate marketing to eBay and plenty of things in between. Because I didn’t have a “techie” background and I was a newbie to internet marketing I didn’t think I had knowledge to sell. Then it hit me one day – the principles that led to the success of my own offline business are almost identical to the principles for successfully selling online.

One quick example – about 3 years ago the latest buzz word on the internet was “viral marketing”. Guru after guru was proclaiming this as some great discovery. Funnily enough I was using “viral marketing” to grow my own offline business back in 1985 before internet marketing even existed! Only I didn’t think to call it that or even give it any sort of name, it was just one of my marketing strategies. So don’t get overwhelmed by all the “marketing speak”, it’s almost certainly all been done before.

Ray here with a VERY quick post today that has nothing to do with marketing or the like!

Over the past few months behind the scenes here it has been mayhem… My son Bailey (at the bottom of the page on the far right) - has been pretty poorly, only to discover he had heart trouble (he’s only 4) and yesterday we were given a “pending” all clear – he had an MRI scan and needs another test in the next few weeks to make 100% sure – but we are confident and somewhat relieved now.

Seriously, he is a little fighter and blew me away with his courage and makes me so proud and grateful about my own situation!

…anyway, to make matters worse, myself and my girlfriend have been looking at a 2nd house in the midst of all this too… talk about stressful times (and I’m usually pretty laid back!) I’ll drop some pics on the blog over the coming weeks for you.

Anyway, I digress. What’s the POINT of today’s post you ask?

Well it’s all about the internet lifestyle.

If I was still tied down to the 9-5 I WOULDN’T be able to enjoy family time, take time out with Bailey so easily, and go house “shopping” at the drop of a hat either!

If I didn’t have such a close not group of subscribers NO AREA of my lifestyle would be possible.

So I just wanted to extend my thanks to you for being a blog reader, subscriber, customer and friend.

I know, probably NOT what you came here to read, but I had to let you know, because you’ll know I VALUE your readership – whether you have just stumbled here on the off chance, or are a long term subscriber to my list.

Anyway, the reason for my troubles today is, as most of you may know, I am a disabled marketer – I have cerebal palsy (caused by a hospital blunder at birth) and some days although I am IMMENSELY driven, hardworking and ambitious – I get pain like you wouldn’t believe and just CANNOT be bothered!

This is why info-marketing is fantastic for my lifestyle as it gives me the freedom to have these “lazy-days” every now and then – or when need to.

My legs are detoriorating (so I have recently been told by my specialist) so over the recent weeks I have invested heavily, and have been focusing on building my business in the event of me needing to say “au revoir” for a few weeks or months.

I have literally “trialled” new outsourced staff from all over the world, systemitised my entire business, and created systems to “plug-in” literally ANYBODY, and successfully move my business forward (in all the critical leverage points too).

My chief content creator, Scott Siegel, has been working immensely hard to produce FANTASTIC training video’s, which are quite frankly AMAZING – and I am very confident in the coming weeks I will quite literally be able to leave the COMPLETE day to day runnings of my company The Ray Johnson Group in my staff’s more than capable hands.

So the moral of todays post?

Quite simply, from the outset – focus on BUILDING A BUSINESS, not just building a website – even if you have ZERO marketing experience it doesn’t matter, the bottom line is Internet Marketing IS a business and should be treated like one to enjoy business-like results!

How long should you spend working daily?

But before we can answer that, we need to be totally sure of what work actually is! I personally can spend anything from 4-7 hours in front of my laptop per day – depending on what I’m working on, although these days a lot of the mundane tasks involved in I.M. are done for me by my small team of outsourced staff all over the world.

I remember when I was just starting out, I used to spend anything from 10-14 hours everyday quite literally glued to my computer. The problem was I was NOT actually working on growing my business. I was wasting my own time and burning myself out. It’s NOT good for you and you generally become unfocussed and distracted from your goal or task.

You should do at least 1 thing that is going to grow your business every day so you need to learn what jobs are productive and unproductive, and ONLY focus on the ones that will build your business and move it forward.

Productive:

Building A Website

Getting An Autoresponder

Writing A Salesletter

Setting Up Your Affiliate Programme

Unproductive:

Surfing The Web

Chatting On MSN

Reading eBooks To Gain Knowledege

So the moral of this post is – you need to learn the VALUE of your time in order to calculate how long you need to spend working and being productive.
