Just a quick post today to thank you all for your support, during the problems I have experienced with eBay and Paypal. I have some news to share with you…

It’s official!  I have had all my recent eBay and Paypal problems corrected, and both accounts fully reinstated – thanks to sheer determination, and a good solicitor! The Ray Johnson Group is finally back as we know it!

I received an apology from Paypal – who in turn notified eBay and the suspensions were fully lifted.

(Heck, I was even getting huge surges of of traffic to my eBay Shop – WHILST I was suspended, notice the Google PR4 – of my eBay Shop and I haven’t even been trading for over a month!)

So I digress, as Google.com’s No.1 Ranked eBay eBook business seller, would you still buy an eBook business from me even though I am currently no longer registered with eBay?

This eBay suspension has learned me a valuable lesson and given me a whole NEW angle to rejuvenate from. I can STILL operate an eBook business myself without using eBay, as is is simply the medium through which traffic is funnelled to gather targeted leads to sell to – but the damage sustained to my long term plans could be unrecoverable…

Myself and my staff at The Ray Johnson Group have been knuckling down to create the sequel to Build Your eBay Empire – “Build Your eBay Empire 2 – The eBook Revolution” and the suspension of my accounts has potentially damaged my credibility…

Yes it has happened. Paypal and eBay have done the unthinkable, the almost unbelievable, they have permanently ceased my eBay eBook business. The ebook business that has taken me 12 months of hard work to build, is officially gone.

To make matters worse, they have crippled my entire business’ digital delivery automation script and system, plus, demolished my new affiliate programme, frozen and holding over $11400.00 (yes you read right) - and all literally for no valid reason.

After complying with EVERY single request they sent me such as:

Providing proof of inventory, proof of satisified customer testimonials, proof of ownership of digital products, proof of copyright and ownership, proof of valid identification, paying off a frauduent buyer’s reversed transaction to the tune of $5000.00, submitting sensitive financial company information and EVEN MORE to boot – they decide to part ways with me!

My solicitor is dealing with both eBay and Paypal, and after the first round of “deliberations” I received an email from Paypal Executive Escalations Department with their reasoning for the decision.  Which is more than you or I would EVER get on our own.

Anyway, to cut a long story short, Paypal state that my withdrawals are too high risk for their business.

Additionally, Paypal claim to have found an account which was linked to my business account in some way, either through registration information or business information (they won’t tell me) – the AMAZING thing though is I received an email FROM Paypal, telling me this account is not an issue!

I have since signed up with Google Checkout as an alternative, and AlertPay, and I am looking into other payment processors as alternatives.

Finally, I have had the all clear from both eBay and Paypal today that my accounts will both be re-opened. What a relief – soon to be an end to this madness!

Like I said in my earlier post relating to my eBay suspension, I value the security procedures that eBay and Paypal use to protect user accounts, but being assumed guilty before being proved innocent is a little harsh…

The reason for my suspension was confirmed as suspicious activity – potentially fraudulent activity according to Paypal, but all it was due to is a huge influx and increase in payments and profits (because my business is growing exponentially at present).

After speaking to a great guy called “Donal” – a team leader in the Paypal Resolutions Department, and my case being personally “owned” by him – I learned some fascinating facts about how and why Paypal procedures are the way they are, and that Paypal really DO understand and care about their customers, and are not just interested in making money!

I must admit I found that hard to believe at first though… but since Paypal have just been granted a FSO licence, they have to buck their ideas up a little… so the future of Paypal is looking better, and the likelyhood of you having YOUR account frozen and permanently limited is a lot slimmer.

Finally – I have a great resource report entitled “The Paypal Report” written by Mike Filsaime, which will give you some really good tips on Paypal AUP (Acceptable Use Policy) and their TOS (Terms Of Service).

I received the dreaded email that all too many eBay sellers and Powersellers alike – are receiving on a daily basis. The suspension notice to my eBay account.

Now, do not get me wrong, eBay are a huge company and obviously have strict policies and codes of conduct  to follow – and that is all well and good to prevent unwanted eBay users, like fraudulent users, shill bidders etc etc from abusing the eBay community, but as an eBay GOLD Powerseller – soon to be PLATINUM I was horrified. Why?

Well to cut a long story short – this is the 2nd time eBay have suspended my account.

The first time – I had used the text “mind control” in a hypnosis eBook advert, which violated my friend Derren Brown (the channel 4 hypnosis guy’s) VERO protected eBay listing! Fortunately after contacting Derren’s management company – and eBay approximately 12 times.. (yes I said 12) I was formerly reinstated.

This suspension I have found to be related to “suspicious account activity” and after a lot of digging, eBay advised the reason was due to “suspiciously large volumes of revenue” passing through my account. (Talk about getting punished for your own success…)

I was fuming, but could see the logical side from eBay’s point of view, but then talk about adding insult to injury! Paypal sent me an email stating I too had been “limited” from using my Paypal for the same reason.

After 10 days of constant communication – eBay and Paypal state they will be reinstating my accounts very shortly.

 The moral of this tale is clear. eBay and Paypal are the boss. They control your eBay eBook Business – they control the funds that you receive, they determine whether or not you are guilty of any “crime” – no matter how big or small it may be.

Don’t keep all your eggs in one basket – use another payment processor like 2CO, StormPay, WorldPay, 1ShoppingCart or your OWN merchant account – (your bank business department will advise you on this).

I have learned a valuable lesson from these unforseen events, and I hope that this post will help you steer clear of the same problems!
